These designs follow a new look this year of making almost every part matte black, with a see-through chassis. We started crafting parts that will go onto the final robot, including a Lexan plate that will serve as part of our chassis and black aluminum extrusions. In the third week, things that we learned from the prototypes and ideas from the first 2 weeks were brought together to begin making our real robot for the season. A lot of programming was also done to see how the robot can effectively maneuver around and reduce the cycle time between loading and depositing game pieces. Mechanisms that can accomplish each of the game objectives were considered and tested through various prototypes. The first 2 weeks of the build season mainly consisted of designing and prototyping potential mechanisms. We’re covering MORE advanced topics, have more practice exercises, and have even created a CAD YouTube Series featuring 6 different tutorial videos (releasing soon on our YT channel!!). In terms of education, we’ve worked all summer long on NEW and IMPROVED CAD and Programming resources. Over the summer, the RoHawks worked on TWO major projects: team OUTREACH and team EDUCATION!Īfter the move to doing things online, we’ve been talking with STEM organizations to plan Fall volunteering events to spread LOVE of STEM and robotics throughout our communities.
